Our Memorial Day Weekend started with a great family BBQ upstate in Fishkill, NY on Sunday. Monday's hazy summer-like weather was perfect for lazing around the house, an opinion shared by humans and felines alike.
Melvin, our 3 year old Lynx Point (and resident mushball), spent the morning in what has become "The Bear Cave"...

The newest album from The Black Keys, Brothers, is another rockin' album through and through. Although some critics claim that the addition of ballads makes the album fall short of their past success, I disagree, mainly because I don't consider most of the slower tempo songs to ballads as much as slow jams. In any event, listen to Everlasting Light, Next girl, and of course, Howlin' for You and tell me you're not sold.
Here is the Black Keys and Next Girl.
Mumford and Sons, a banjo wailing group of guys from West London, have been on my regular rotation since buying their album. Sigh No More, released in the US in February 2010, is folksy, bluegrass-y and completely infectious. The album is fabulous from start to finish with the standouts being The Cave, Little Lion Man, Awake My Soul, and Roll Away Your Stone...although I could probably list the entire album as standouts.
Here is Mumford and Sons with The Cave.
